Ah, spring time. It’s finally on the way.
For me, spring is such a captivating season. We see the white snow melt away, revealing fresh green grass underneath. The skinny, brown twigs attached to trees turn into lush, full branches. The sun shines brightly through the clouds while a rainbow of flowers bloom out of the ground. The sudden vibrancy is almost blinding at first, but the change is a welcome one.
Many animals begin to come out of hiding during this season. The fearless squirrels waste no time gathering nuts for the next winter. Birds carefully collect small twigs to build a home for their future chicks. Newborn deer explore the world alongside their mothers, innocently curious about every sight and smell. Graceful butterflies and buzzing bees fly about, searching for sources of food.
This is also the time where humans begin to leave the warmth of their homes for the warmth of the sunlight. Slowly, the layers of heavy coats and sweaters are shed in exchange for t-shirts and light jackets. More people are seen being dragged down the street by their excited pets, who have been cooped up indoors for months. Bikes, baseballs, and other types of sports equipment are recovered for any free time outside of work and/or school.
The days seem to become longer and longer the farther we get into the year. The chill of wintertime in the air is replaced by the sweet floral fragrance of spring. And I cannot wait to experience it all over again!
(I tried to sound cool while writing this. I don’t think it worked, but hey, I tried! Anyway, Happy Almost Spring!)
